Learn from ROZA SAMPOLINSKA, an internationally recognized, awarded and published PRO and a Portrait Photographer of the Year 2014.
It is the first portrait lighting workshop focused entirely on creating dramatic film noir portraits.
This unique workshop is 100% hands-on and will leave you inspired and with your head full of practical knowledge. You will learn how to use different types of studio lights (strobe/flash & continuous), how to work with models and you will take photographs under Roza’s expert guidance. You will also have an opportunity to see her in action - she will show you her workflow, from the moment the model enters the studio, to the finished photograph.
During her workshops Roza teaches her techniques for creating stunning film noir portraits and generously shares her knowledge. Come ready to make a huge leap in your portraiture and lighting skills.

THE EXPERIENCE
During this 2-day intensive masterclass, you will go back in time, you will take your lighting skills to a whole new level, elevate your creativity and learn how to create timeless portraits, reminiscent of Old Hollywood.
This intensive masterclass focuses on learning the intricacies of dramatic portrait lighting and creating beautiful, impactful images.
There will be multiple wardrobe changes, hair & makeup variations - everything to make this 2 day workshop an unforgettable experience.
DURING THE WORKSHOP YOU WILL LEARN:
- different types of studio lighting: - continuous light - strobe
- different ways to modify the source of light
- how to find inspiration and awaken your creativity
- how to plan and execute a successful photo session
- posing
- how to work with models
- how to work with clients/non-professional models
- importance of body language: DOs and DON’Ts
- importance of details in a perfect portrait
- secrets of Roza’s post-processing (part of the 2-day workshops)
DETAILS:
DAY 1:
9:30am - 10:00am: Meet & Greet
10:00am - 11:00am: Introduction
11:00am - 1:00pm: Introduction to theory of light and Roza's lighting techniques
1:00pm - 1:30pm: Lunch (provided)
1:30pm - 5:30pm: Hands-on lighting setups with one of our 2 amazing models
DAY 2:
9:30am - 11:00am: Postproduction - learn Roza's process, from developing in Lightroom to final image in Photoshop, based on one of the images taken on DAY 1.
11:00am - 1:00pm: Hands-on lighting setups with one of our amazing models
1:00pm - 1:30pm: Lunch (provided)
1:30pm - 5:30pm: Hands-on lighting setups with continuous lights with one of our 2 amazing models
PLEASE BRING:
- lots of good energy and positive attitude
- Tylenol (you will get a headache from all the knowledge you will absorb - I am not even joking, ask previous attendees:)
- cameras and portrait lenses (50mm, 80mm or longer (f1.4-f2.8 preferred) although you should know by now, that cameras does not take pictures - you do... :)
- comfy shoes
- notebooks and pens
IMPORTANT:
You can attend this masterclass ONLY IF you DO NOT provide photography services within a 150 miles radius from Tampa Bay
Any video/audio recording during the workshop is strictly prohibited.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
In order to book your spot, 50% non-refundable deposit is required. This reserves your spot. Due to the nature of the course and costs involved in planning and execution, if you need to cancel your attendance after a payment has already been made, you will need to resell your seat, in order to receive a refund.
The remaining 50% is due no later than by February 20, 2024. Failure to pay the remainder of the fee will result in you losing your spot and you will not receive a refund of your deposit.
Should the workshop be cancelled, due to unforeseen circumstances or force majeur, any money paid will be fully refunded. Travel & accommodation fees will not be refunded.
The cost of the workshop includes two 7-8 hour days, lunch, snacks, coffee and beverages. It does not include travel & accommodation. There are a few reasonably priced hotels in the close vicinity of the studio. Please make your bookings ahead of time, to ensure you have a place to stay.
Attendees will be allowed to use images taken during the workshop for portfolio use only (website and online). Attendees are not permitted to use images taken at the workshop for commercial purposes. Social media usage is allowed but only to showcase your portfolio. Attendees must credit "Roza Sampolinska Photography" when posting images taken during the workshop.
Images must not be submitted to magazines, exhibitions or competitions without permission. Images must not be used to advertise photo shoots, workshops or products sold by an attendee.
Roza Sampolinska is NOT responsible for any injuries damage to property caused by incidents during the above mentioned workshop.

Im a professional wedding photographer with almost no knowledge about anything larger than speedlights. I was always afraid of studio lighting, it seemed so technical and complicated. Until i attended Rozas workshop.
Roza is such a friendly and hospitable person. The moment i walked into her studio i felt i have known her forever! 2 days of our hands on workshop passed like an hour and i could not believe the quality of knowledge i recieved!
Roza has a talent of explaining technical things so easily! She pays attention to all the questions and makes sure they get addressed and explained. The workshop was so much more than just a studio lighting.. Roza introduced us to a beauty of a portraiture world, showed us correct placing of light and shadows along with proper posing and her signature editing method.
